The better you saved for retirement, the bigger your future tax problem may be.  Every dollar in a traditional 401(k) or IRA is pre-tax. At 73, Required Minimum Distributions force that money out, whether you need it or not, and pile onto your other income.  Three costs of ignoring it: • The RMD ‘tax bomb’, forced, growing withdrawals late in life • The widow’s penalty, a surviving spouse files single, at higher rates • The 10-year rule, heirs must drain an inherited IRA within a decade, often at their peak tax rates  The underused fix: the ‘gap years’ between retiring and starting RMDs, when your tax bracket is often lowest. That’s the window to convert to a Roth on your terms, sized carefully, mindful of IRMAA.  New video breaks down exactly how to think about it (educational, not advice).
